Meals at Dobrina Cottage, without a permanent kitchen.
Dobrina Cottage is only occupied during the warm months when nobody fancies cooking indoors anyway, so we have not bothered to install a kitchen. We do have a large gas bottle and a two-burner portable stove, so cooking can be done anywhere, in or out. There is also a fridge, a toaster and a coffee machine, and plenty of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans and other kitchen necessities, all kept in the downstairs living room. Dishes are washed in the big sink in the wetroom. We also have tables and chairs that are light enough to move in and out effortlessly, so organizing outdoor food preparation and generally living out in the sunshine is easy.
A more pleasurable way to cook, we find, is to make up a wood fire anywhere out in our huge garden. There is plenty of fire wood, stored in the outbuildings, and kindling can be gathered by snapping off the dead branches from some of our older trees. The rocks, breeze blocks and old bricks found on the property are handy for improvising almost anything. The making of a primitive earth oven is on the agenda too, and we would be happy to allow anyone else to try their hand at this.
We admit to eating one meal in a restaurant somewhere in Provadiya most days, but we cherish the beautiful walk down the mountain from Dobrina to Provadiya anyway.
Maria's shop/cafe/restaurant in Dobrina serves small meals every day in their bar, and they will open their larger room for evening dinners if booked in advance.
